Winter is here

Hi Reader,

The mornings are brisk. The puffy jacket is on during the morning walks. Life is great. It is my favourite season.

It got me thinking about how things change over time. We lived in a one-bedroom apartment in the city a few years ago. Our morning walks took us along the river. On weekends, we were out on hiking adventures. A few years later, we were in the suburbs, and our walks followed streets around the neighbourhood and parklands as we built our own trails. Then, we added a pram to the mix as our newborn daughter joined the world.

Each season was wonderful for their own different reasons. We have to enjoy them, as they don’t last forever. They will, inevitably, have to change. Irrespective of how amazing things are.

Reflecting on these walks also helped me to realise that we have enough. I’m able to enjoy these morning walks. I’m able to work out consistently and enjoy hobbies. On work days, I’m home for bath time. Dinner has become its own ritual with my wife and daughter. We see family and friends.

When I think about it, I have everything I need:

  • I have a loving family and a fantastic family life.
  • I have great friends whom I see regularly.
  • I have hobbies that keep me engaged.
  • I’m part of community groups.
  • I’m learning and growing.
  • Our finances are okay.
  • I’m healthy.

I'm grateful for this. It’s something I need to remember.

...

I recently finished reading the book Light Bringer, the sixth instalment in the Red Rising saga. WOW! I cannot recommend the book or the series enough. It’s well worth the time investment.

If you want a great podcast, I recommend Mike Thurston’s recent conversation with Dr Mike Israetel.

What are you focusing on at the moment? Let me know.

I help you level up. My writing focuses on life lessons and practical application. Amongst other things, I drink coffe, lift weights, watch anime, and love the outdoors.
